Suggesting the present and future of painting nowadays is far from being an easy issue to be cleared up. In an era where different artistic disciplines attempt to take positions as far as discourses and expectations are concerned, painting suggests two alternatives: on the one hand, the recreation of itself tapping into history and insisting on the same statements and patterns; on the other hand, moving with the times.
The present exhibition: “Not ever in painting!” suggests a review for these new roads painting is aiming towards and how its adaptation to the present day from an innovative and contemporary approach contributes to a new way of perceiving and feeling it.
It will be noticed that the transformation process of painting by means of different artistic expressions will be relinquishing of all its past burden making its way as an origin and root of the artistic production rather than a fulfillment of itself, on a pilot basis and bound to other expressive ways and visual representation.
Painting turns into the source of the creative act, a concept that contemplates on itself, with the capacity to assimilate and get to grasp our world from an infinite array of perspectives. It is by means of its “ failure” where painting takes meaning and dispensing with the pictorial technique- even subvert it- new routes are called upon in order to attempt to convey the same emotions.
By means of some styles, forms and well-defined procedures in each artist, a clear analysis intention, search and research on the new capacities of painting are highlighted. In this way, a critical analysis can be stablished, a reflection process and self-knowledge, attempting from diverse strategic alternatives and supports to encourage certain complicity and holistic discourse on new ways of exploring and rethinking of painting.
